Alaska Pacific University Offers a New Masters of Business Administration Degree with a Focus in Health Services Administration

The new Master of Business Administration program is geared toward people in the health care industry including business managers, clinicians, CFO's, attorneys, and others who wish to gain a greater understanding of health care management and issues. Courses are relevant to national trends and local needs in health care policy and management. The program can be finished in two years, and course schedules accommodate working people.

The program's curriculum was developed by Alaska Pacific University with input from Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, Alaska Regional Hospital, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Providence Health System, and Southcentral Foundation.

The Director

Mary M. Rydesky, the director of the newly formed MBA with a Health Services focus joined Alaska Pacific University in 2004. Rydesky brings a wealth of experience in for-profit, not-for-profit, voluntary, and academic health care environments. Professor Rydesky is a member of the faculty at University of Texas (UT) Southwestern Medical School where she taught in the Health Services Administration program since 1984. A graduate of University of Texas (Austin), Southern Methodist University, and Marymount Manhattan College, she is pursing a Ph.D. in Business Administration with specialization in Management of Engineering and Technology. She is a frequent speaker and has written numerous articles and texts, including the Patient Education Sourcebook.
