Leadership & Giving

In addition to recognizing those who consistently support the university with annual donations at the Denali Society level we also recognize individuals, corporations, organizations and foundations whose cumulative giving totals reach: Laureate level ($1 million and above), Summa Cum Laude level ($500,000-999,999), Magna Cum Laude level ($100,000-499,999).

This year we are pleased to induct the following generous contributors into the Denali Society Class of 2006:

Summa Cum Laude:
Northrim Bank
Magna Cum Laude:
Jacqueline Carr
Chenega Corporation
Edward & Cathryn Rasmuson

Joe Schierhorn accepts the Summa Cum Laude award on behalf of Northrim Bank. The Summa Cum Laude award is bestowed upon those contributors whose cumulative giving has exceeded half a million dollars. Northrim Bank has been one of the university’s most generous corporate donors for over a decade now. Over those many years the bank has supported a variety of university efforts and programs, but has rarely asked to be publicly recognized for their efforts.

Most recently, Northrim’s annual gifts have provided much-needed support of the Rural Alaska Native Adult program, as well as our annual operating fund–which helps pay for academic programs, faculty salaries, scholarships and much more.

We are most grateful for Northrim Bank’s faith in Alaska Pacific University, as well as its committed partnership.

Carl Brady Jr. receives award from fellow Trustee Ral West

Carl Brady, Jr. was named the Distinguished Volunteer of the Year for 2006 at the recent Denali Society recognition dinner. The award is named for Laurence J. Carr, the very first recipient. Mr. Brady has served on Alaska Pacific University’s board of trustees since 1999. Over the past seven years he has been extremely active as a trustee and friend of the university, serving on numerous committees of the board, as a member of the Campaign for Quality steering committee, and as chairman of the board of trustees for not one, but two terms. Carl also attended the university in the 1960s.

In addition to Mr. Brady’s involvement at APU, he also is an owner and CEO of Alaska Sales and Service, and is currently a Managing Director of Marsh USA. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation.

Carl and his wife, Pamela, have four children and five grandchildren.
